Digital signage for doctors’ practices: using waiting room TV properly
Digital signage for doctors’ practices: what to show in the waiting room, what to watch out for on data protection and design, and how to get started.
Why digital signage belongs in the waiting room
A screen in the waiting area informs, entertains and shortens the perceived wait. Patients get practice information, health tips and news — current, and without a pile of magazines.
What you can show
- Opening hours, cover arrangements and holiday notices
- Preparation for examinations, patient information, vaccination and screening advice
- Team introductions and an overview of services
- Weather, clock and calm imagery — against nervousness
- Optionally a call system with waiting numbers
What to watch out for
- Calm design, little movement — no advertising noise.
- Sound usually off: content has to work without audio.
- Data protection: do not display patient names openly.
- Good readability from several metres away.
Getting started is this simple
A screen, a player (for example the Amazon Signage Stick) and the lumafy CMS — done. Upgrading an existing TV is the cheapest route. How it all fits together is shown in our digital signage guide.
